All of our therapists are selected carefully by matching their values and the qualities they hold with our own. Each therapist brings their unique counselling skills, practice and specialisms to our organisation but fundamentally we hold the same values, ethics and passion to make life a little easier for trainees. One thing we all have in common is that we have experienced our own trails and challenges on the road to becoming a qualified counsellor and we are all committed to giving something back so that other people may not struggle so much.
Once you have been matched to a counsellor you will have the opportunity after your first session to say if you feel you are not a good match. We understand that counselling is very personal and there can be many reasons why a counsellor does not feel the right fit for you. We do not ask you to go into any detail regarding this but if there is any feedback you would like to give this is always welcome.
All of our counsellors are qualified to a minimum of Level 4 Diploma and are committed to continuous professional development required by law.
All of our counsellors are members of a governing body such as BACP or NCS and work to BACP ethical guidelines. All counsellors have a clinical supervisor and attend supervision to meet the minimum 1.5hrs each month. All of our counsellors are insured and have a valid DBS certificate to work with clients safely.
All of our counsellors are passionate about providing the very best counselling services to trainee counsellors and we promise to try our very best to match you with the right counsellor.

I work with the view that even if there are things that will not change, our responses to them and the power we give them can. I have experience in bereavement, potentially harmful ideations, voice hearing and working with young people. I believe in early interventions having more success but also that it is never too let to action change.

I am a person-centred counsellor I work from a place of authenticity, accepting people for who they are and where they are at in their life. I believe that life is a journey of self discovery. I believe in the spiritual and holistic links to the well-being in our journey. I also work within a organisation that offers people support in crisis, this has allowed me to gain wider knowledge of mental health and the challenges faced by people.

I started my level 1 Counselling skills course and i was hooked! But how could I go back to being a student? I had two small children, a house to run and many other commitments and responsibilities that go along with that. I made the leap and went for it, starting my level 3 course in therapeutic counselling, which was an absolute deep dive into my life and my self. I truly connected with parts of me I didn't even know I had lost like the confidence I once had but had somehow lost along the way. On completion of level 3 I had a break in my long-term relationship and became a single parent with one income. This made me seriously think about whether I could continue on the counselling journey that I had started and I so desperately wanted to carry on to Level 4. I found a college that accepted government funding and worked out my income to the pound! I decided I could do it, if I really cut back on all other areas in life and I began to budget each month. The best made plans often go awry!
I was working part time in a school, attending college one day a week and I had 3 placements to attend as well as clinical supervision, group supervision and personal counselling. It was so hard fitting everything in with 2 small children to look after not to mention assignments.
I struggled financially throughout my entire Level 4 diploma and some months I cried thinking about how I was going to make it to the next pay day. BUT I did it! This really gave me the passion and drive to want to help trainee counsellors in the only way I know how, as a qualified counsellor who can give something back.
This is my story but I know personally how difficult it has been for many people in lots of different ways as we all have our own lives to manage and due to the cost of living crisis many of us are struggling financially more than ever.
Trainee Counsellor Care was born and I love making a difference to trainee counsellors on their journey by providing a more affordable rate. I also understand the importance of trying to accommodate availability for trainees due to the demands on their time. We will always try to match you with a counsellor who can meet your availability where possible.
